Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the Acute Hematology Unit, specializing in the care of newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. This is a 12-hour shift position, with both day and night rotations required. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a critical care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing infection prevention protocols.
- Manage patient falls prevention strategies to ensure safety.
- Administer medications and blood products as per established protocols.
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage central and peripheral lines.
- Conduct telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias.
- Collaborate with Rapid Response Teams as needed.
- Provide feeding tube care and management.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
- Experience in managing patients with acute hematological conditions preferred.
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred Certifications
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Additional Information
Staffing ratios are aimed at 1:4, but may reach up to 1:5 depending on unit needs. Nurses will work variable weekends based on departmental requirements. Schedules are reviewed every four weeks, although changes cannot be guaranteed.
