Responsibilities
- Stand engine room watch and assist with the safe operation of the rig’s power plant and auxiliary machinery.
- Conduct machinery rounds, monitor operating parameters, and maintain detailed logs.
- Identify abnormal equipment conditions and communicate issues proactively to prevent downtime.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on generators, pumps, compressors, purifiers, fuel and lube oil systems, cooling water systems, HVAC, freshwater systems, and other engine room equipment.
- Support maintenance of propulsion and thruster-related systems to ensure reliable power for drilling, marine, and hotel operations.
- Document maintenance activities and equipment history accurately through the planned maintenance system.
- Participate in safety drills, emergency duties, and daily shift handovers to uphold safety standards.
- Collaborate with the technical team to maintain operational readiness and equipment reliability.
Requirements
- USCG 3rd Assistant Engineer Unlimited MMC or higher.
- Valid USCG Medical Certificate with STCW OICEW / applicable STCW engineering endorsements.
- Previous engineering watchstanding experience on a DP vessel, drilling rig, or similar offshore installation.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary machinery.
- Deepwater drilling experience is highly preferred.
- Current BOSIET, FOET, or THUET certification.
- Valid RigPass or SafeGulf certification.
- TWIC card and U.S. Passport.
- Ability to obtain required foreign flag-state endorsement.
- Must meet all offshore medical, training, and pre-employment requirements.
