Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on Medical Surgical units, including ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, and surgical patient populations (GI, urology, gynecological)
- Maintain a staffing ratio of 1:5–6 patients on nights, with potential flex to 1:7–8 with LPN support
- Float to other Med Surg units as needed, typically approximately once per week
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
- Participate in a mandatory orientation period during the first two weeks of assignment
- Adhere to every-other-weekend scheduling requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN License required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required; pending certification accepted with confirmed willingness to obtain
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
- Must be available for the full two-week orientation at the start of assignment
- Willingness to float to other Med Surg units and work with varied staff types
- Local candidates are accepted; no radius restrictions apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 or more years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Experience working across multiple Med Surg subspecialties (ortho, neuro, cardio, pulmonary, surgical)
- Flexibility with scheduling, including the ability to work without block scheduling guarantees
