Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts (1830–0700); every other weekend required; every third holiday required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 35-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult and geriatric populations with diagnoses including cardiac conditions, nephrology, stroke, diabetes mellitus, and continuous EEG monitoring
- Titrate drips including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5, collaborating with patient care techs assigned at a 1:10 ratio
- Float as needed to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units
- Successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- Adhere to facility infection control policies, including prohibition of artificial nails in all patient care areas
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Must not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and titrating vasoactive or cardiac drips
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
