Job Summary
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) RN in Wausau, Wisconsin. This contract position involves delivering specialized nursing care on a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit with a focus on heavy telemetry, ventilator and tracheostomy management, and complex patient needs. The role requires adaptability to rotating day/night shifts and the ability to manage a high-acuity patient population in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
- Shift: Rotating, 12-hour variable days and nights, with a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts with minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS, and ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC). Minimum 2+ years of experience, including stepdown/intermediate care or progressive care unit (PCU). ICU experience and trauma Level II preferred. Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior travel experience.
- Additional Information: Unit focuses on patients with sepsis, trauma alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, TBI, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke. The primary patient ratio is 4:1. Heavy telemetry, stable, weaning ventilators and trachs. Candidate must be resilient, adaptable to change, and able to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced setting. Scrub colors are flexible. Flu vaccination is mandatory during flu season; masks are required for those declining vaccination.
