Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in a healthcare facility. This role involves assessing and responding to patients' physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs through personal observation and interaction. The OR nurse acts as a patient advocate, utilizes professional nursing skills and judgment to implement nursing care, and communicates assessments to all relevant team members. Responsibilities include managing diagnostic measures such as labs, radiology, EKG, and demonstrating skills in intravenous therapy. The position may involve working in various OR units, including PACU, pain management, and eye laser procedure rooms, with a focus on safe patient care and efficient workflow.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, basic life support (BLS) certification, knowledge of IV therapy, familiarity with diagnostic measures such as labs, radiology, and EKG, and at least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical or perioperative setting
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a float nurse, familiarity with anesthesia supplies, ability to assist with nerve blocks, knowledge of emergency procedures and crash cart locations, and participation in clinical committees
- Additional Information: The OR nurse will assist with admitting patients, transcribing and implementing physicians' orders, documenting in clinical records, managing supplies, and participating in patient education. When assigned to PACU, provides critical care, monitors vital signs, maintains airway, and evaluates patient's discharge readiness. The role also includes assisting with housekeeping duties, supporting pain management and laser procedure rooms, and working collaboratively with the surgical team.
