Job Summary
Medical Surgical (MS) Floor Nurse position in a healthcare facility located in the area. This role involves providing patient care for a variety of acute conditions, such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, altered mental status, gastrointestinal bleeding, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness. The position offers consistent 12-hour day shifts with a focus on vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, electrocardiograms, heart monitor application, bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning of patients. The healthcare provider values flexibility, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols to support patient recovery and comfort.
Job Details
- Shift Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, with weekends scheduled as per the rotation, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, at least 1 year of clinical experience, ability to work in a 50-mile radius of the facility.
- Preferred Qualifications: Ability to titrate non-cardiac drips such as heparin, bumex, and lasix; experience with electrocardiogram (EKG) monitoring and patient assessment.
- Duties: Monitoring vital signs, blood glucose levels, and electrocardiograms; applying heart monitors; assisting with bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning of patients.
- Additional Information: Critical thinking and adaptability are essential for managing patient care efficiently in a fast-paced setting. The role includes responsibilities for troubleshooting respiratory therapists' equipment such as BIPAP, C-PAP, and high-flow oxygen devices.
- Floats: Fluency in floating to other medical units or intensive care units to accommodate staffing needs may be required.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, ceil blue for PCTs, black and pink for secretaries.
- Orientation: One day with educator/computer system training, followed by a day with a preceptor.
