We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PCU Registered Nurse to join our team at a leading acute-care hospital in Overland Park, KS. This is a contract position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step Down, where you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to emergency situations.
- Perform pre/post cardiac catheterization care and manage patients with various conditions including sepsis, renal failure, AFIB, and stroke.
- Administer medications and therapies as prescribed, including IV therapy and blood product administration.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed.
- Float between multiple units as required, adapting to various patient care settings.
Requirements:
- 1 to 2 years of nursing experience in a PCU or similar setting.
- BLS and NIHSS certifications are required; ACLS certification is preferred.
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage cardiac telemetry.
- Experience with feeding tube care, IV therapy, and central line management is preferred.
- Must be willing to float between approximately 5 units, including Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU Departments and other Metro campuses as needed.
- Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks.
- No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed.
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.
