Contract | Full-Time | Days | 3×12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a complex medical unit managing conditions such as complicated UTI/pneumonia, sepsis, pancreatitis, and altered mental status
- Support a research unit environment approximately half of the month, with the remainder dedicated to complex medical nursing care
- Manage and monitor patients with tracheostomies, PEG tubes, and peritoneal dialysis as needed
- Perform IV starts and PICC line management and assess patients using the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Participate in research protocols, which may include observation and monitoring of research study participants
Required Qualifications
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia or compact eligibility
- Strong Medical-Surgical nursing skills are required
- Demonstrated competency with tracheostomy care, NIHSS assessment, IV starts, and PICC line management
- Ability to work effectively in both research and complex medical care settings
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with peritoneal dialysis (PD)
- Prior exposure to research unit environments or clinical research protocols
- Experience caring for patients with sepsis, pancreatitis, or PEG tube management
