Contract | Nights | Every Other Weekend | Expected 36–48 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU serving a wide range of adult diagnoses including Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI Bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock
- Maintain a 1:2 or 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in the ICU, adjusting to 1:4 or 1:5 when floating to Medical/Surgical units
- Float to Medical/Surgical units as needed, managing up to 4–5 patients per assignment
- Read and interpret telemetry strips as required for both ICU and float assignments
- Document patient care accurately using the EPIC electronic medical records system
- Collaborate with attending physicians and residents who are present in the ICU 24 hours per day
Required Qualifications
- Active Massachusetts RN License required
- AHA BLS certification required
- AHA ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of continuous adult MICU experience required
- Telemetry competency required, including ability to read telemetry strips
- Must be available to work every other weekend
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a Level III Trauma Center or large community hospital setting
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR charting system
- Experience floating to Medical/Surgical units
