Contract | 36 or 48 hours per week | Rotating Shifts (Days/Evenings/Nights) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU serving a wide range of adult patients including those with Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI Bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock
- Maintain RN-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 for high-acuity ICU patients; ratios of 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to Medical/Surgical units
- Float to Medical/Surgical units as needed, managing up to 4–5 patients per assignment
- Read and interpret telemetry strips as required for both ICU and float assignments
- Document patient care accurately using the EPIC electronic medical records system
- Collaborate with attending physicians and residents who are present in the ICU 24 hours per day
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of continuous adult ICU experience, preferably in a MICU setting
- Active Massachusetts RN License required
- AHA BLS certification required
- AHA ACLS certification required
- Demonstrated telemetry competency and ability to read telemetry strips
- Willingness and ability to float to Medical/Surgical units as needed
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a Level III Trauma Center or large community hospital setting
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Experience managing high-acuity patients with complex diagnoses such as Sepsis, Cardiogenic Shock, or Respiratory Failure
