Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36–48 hours per week | Weekends required; scheduled days will vary based on staffing needs. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Every other holiday required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Room setting, including patients across the age spectrum with some pediatric experience expected
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for emergency department patients
- Float within scope of practice to other units as staffing needs require
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes
- Document all patient care activities accurately using Epic EMR
- Adhere to facility policies, compliance requirements, and unit-specific protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia RN license (pending license accepted; must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- ACLS required
- BLS required
- PALS required
- TNCC required (may submit with TNCC pending, but must have prior to start date)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience; must include at least 1 year of Level I trauma experience or 2 years of Level II trauma experience, including some pediatric experience
- Epic EMR experience required
- Nursys verification required at time of submission
- References required
- Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract; all RTO must be disclosed at time of submission
Preferred Experience / Skills
- BSN preferred
- Experience in a high-volume or academic medical center emergency department
- Comfort with pediatric emergency presentations
