Contract | Days | Every other weekend required | No holiday requirement | No call or standby requirement
Key Responsibilities
- Float between Med/Oncology, two surgical units, and two medical units within a large hospital setting (128-bed unit)
- Provide total patient care at a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio with no PCAs; manage a diverse patient population including surgical services (colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, orthopedic) and medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD, and kidney and GI conditions
- Perform occasional cardiac strip reading as needed; no routine telemetry monitoring required
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy for any RT equipment needs; RNs are not required to independently manage vents, CPAP, BiPAP, or high-flow devices beyond basic troubleshooting
- Float to any Med/Surg pod as assigned based on staffing needs
- Participate in a 3-shift unit-specific orientation upon onboarding
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Current BLS certification required
- Current, relevant medical/surgical nursing experience
- Large hospital experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with oncology or surgical subspecialties such as colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, or orthopedic patient populations
- Comfort with float pool or multi-unit assignments
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR (facility transitioning to EPIC in late 2026)
