Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a flex unit serving both floor (up to 6:1 ratio) and stepdown (up to 3:1 ratio) patients based on census and hospital needs
- Manage a diverse medical patient population with primarily medicine diagnoses
- Titrate drips per physician orders, including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
- Monitor and manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP, HiFlow, and ventilators (stepdown); patients requiring ventilator setting adjustments are transferred to ICU
- Collaborate with Clinical Associates (CAs), charge RNs, and house supervisors to ensure safe, efficient unit operations
- Float as needed to other floor or stepdown units as first priority for floating or pulling
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in West Virginia or compact state eligibility
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to manage a 6-patient med-surg assignment or a 3-patient stepdown assignment
- Willingness to work weekend shifts as this position is posted as a weekend role
- Availability to work approximately half of all recognized facility holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience with drip titration including vasoactive and sedation medications
- Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring equipment
- Experience in a flex or dual-acuity unit environment
