Key Responsibilities
- Provide primary care nursing on a 14-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Manage a high-acuity patient population including diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure, dialysis, post-surgical, wound care, DVT, and ETOH cases
- Administer and monitor medications including Lasix, Bumex, and Heparin
- Collaborate with CNAs, LPNs, and interdisciplinary staff; float to acute care, cardiology, or EC units as needed
- Uphold strict patient safety, satisfaction, and quality of care standards in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment
- Manage patients on CPAP; BIPAP used on nights only
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical experience required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Must be comfortable managing a 1:6 patient ratio
- Must live at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- Experience in a larger, high-acuity, high-volume facility (no Critical Access Hospital experience accepted in lieu of required acuity)
- Familiarity with dialysis patients and wound care including amputations and debridements
- Experience with monitored patients; strip reading not required
