Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts | Expected 36 Hours/Week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity, heavily cardiac-focused Progressive Care Unit serving populations including Heart Failure, A-Fib, VTach, VFib, LVAD, and Heart Transplant patients
- Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring without tech assistance; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers
- Administer and manage common cardiac drips including Insulin, Milrinone, Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Nitroglycerin
- Assist with and provide post-procedure care for cardiac procedures including right/left heart catheterizations, sheath removal, TR Band management, cardioversions, ablations, pacemakers, ICDs, and STEMI/NSTEMI care
- Manage chest tubes and groin sites; care for patients with significant procedural volume and frequent admissions and discharges
- Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; travelers are not eligible for the Cardiac Monitor Tech float role
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of Georgia (or compact license eligibility)
- Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
- Demonstrated experience with all cardiac drips listed above and independent telemetry interpretation
- Must achieve a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
- Must have chest tube experience
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local travelers
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Heart transplant experience preferred (training available if needed)
- LVAD experience preferred (training available if needed)
- Familiarity with valve replacement procedures, stent placement, and congenital heart disease patient populations
- Prior travel nursing experience in a high-acuity cardiac or PCU setting
