Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized intermediate critical care for patients presenting with diagnoses including DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, and Stroke
- Perform and manage IV starts, telemetry monitoring, cardiac telemetry, and titration of cardiac drips
- Operate as a Rapid Response RN on the unit, utilizing rapid response team protocols as needed
- Manage feeding tubes, Heparin protocols, PCA, and CVA care; operate specialized equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and Optiflow
- Maintain a 1:4 patient ratio; float to Med/Surg as needed (1:6 ratio)
- Document and chart using EPIC and PYXIS systems; adhere to self-scheduling requirements including a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in NC or a Compact state (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Current ACLS and BLS/BCLS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, titration of cardiac drips, Heparin protocols, PCA, CVA, feeding tube management, and use of rapid response teams
- Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at an adjusted rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Med/Surg or Telemetry and titration of vasoactive drips
- Experience caring for ventilated patients
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- NIHSS certification
