Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 34-bed Progressive Cardiac Care Unit at the PCU and medical-surgical transition levels of care
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:5 for PCU-level patients and 1:6 for medical-surgical transition-level patients
- Perform unit procedures including Foley and nasogastric tube insertions, wound care, and continuous monitoring using VS machines, EKG, bladder scanning, glucometers, and pulse oximetry
- Document patient care accurately using the Meditech EMR system
- Float within scope of practice as needed; no on-call requirement
- Support a unit actively upskilling staff to manage PCU-level patients as the facility's designated trauma PCU
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure valid for practice in Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- PCCN, TNCC, or TCAR certification
- Experience in ICU or PCU level of care
- Precepting experience
- Flexible, adaptable, quick learner with a positive attitude
