Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule | Works into permanent staff holiday rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for medical and post-operative/surgical patient populations
- Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation and patient management
- Read and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms using portable telemetry boxes as needed; must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to assignment
- Float as needed to telemetry (1:4 ratio) and between Medical Surgical floors
- Collaborate with clinical supervisors, nurse aides, hospitalists, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy to deliver coordinated patient care
- Complete floor-specific orientation consisting of 1 shift on the unit
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum 2–3 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias; must pass dysrhythmia competency exam
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience floating to telemetry units
- Familiarity with post-operative and surgical patient populations
- Strong collaborative and team-oriented work style
