Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care before, during, and after surgery
- Perform patient assessments, maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment, and deliver pre- and post-operative patient education
- Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being throughout the surgical care continuum
- Primarily function in a circulating role across a broad range of surgical specialties including vascular, orthopedic, trauma, general surgery, robotics, urology, and ENT
- Support coverage in Labor & Delivery for C-sections as needed across a 14-room OR suite
- Utilize EPIC EMR for all documentation and patient care coordination
Required Qualifications
- Active New York RN License (current and in good standing; facility will not pend licenses or certifications)
- BLS – American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS – American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 2+ years of current OR experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Experience floating to vascular, orthopedic, trauma, general surgery, robotics, urology, and ENT required
- Both scrub and circulate experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have personal reliable transportation; a personal vehicle is a firm requirement
- Must reside outside of the following New York counties to be eligible for this travel assignment: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, and Washington
- Completion of de-escalation training from an approved provider (Welle, CPI, or PMCS) required for onboarding and clearance
- Must be able to pass a 14-panel drug screen within 24 hours of offer acceptance
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Scrub experience in addition to circulating is a strong asset
- Experience with a high-volume OR environment (approximately 50 procedures per day)
- Familiarity with a broad range of surgical specialties across pediatric through adult patient populations
