Key Responsibilities
- Maintain adequate respiratory and cardiac status of patients awakening from anesthesia through continual assessment and monitoring
- Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician-authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice
- Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, responding to call lights and alarms, and assisting with transfers
- Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with team members to update or revise care plans using current clinical information
- Process physician and provider orders accurately, completely, and in a timely manner
- Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications to ensure patient safety and comfort
Required Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN license (verified through LARA and/or Nursys)
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
- Active American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Current skills checklist (within the last year) pertinent to PACU specialty required
- Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a high-acuity or trauma-level hospital environment
- Familiarity with Epic EMR
- Experience with post-operative care for patients undergoing advanced or minimally invasive surgical procedures
