Travel RN – Cardiac Step-Down (IMC/PCU)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiac step-down unit managing patients with CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedural cardiac patients (cath/stent, pacer/ICD/ablation)
- Administer and titrate cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:4, with stretch staffing up to 1:5
- Operate unit equipment including Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lift equipment, and bladder scanners; document in Cerner EMR
- Perform and assist with bedside cardioversion as needed
- Float to MedSurg units, other step-down units, COVID unit, and ER holding as required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license appropriate for practice in North Carolina
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a step-down, progressive care, or PCU setting
- Telemetry experience required
- Demonstrated experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
- Relief charge nurse experience
- Flexible, positive, team-oriented, and compassionate approach to patient care
