Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift (19:00–07:30) | 16-Week Assignment | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No call requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of direct patient care for all age groups, including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain patients
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort
- Operate and manage unit-specific equipment including chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and maintain professional accountability
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable standards and nursing practice guidelines
- Float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit; night shift orientation occurs on day shift — traveler must be available the entire orientation week
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold a Missouri RN license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Cardiac Stepdown experience
- Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with EPIC EMR
- Familiarity with post-op cardiac patient populations including CABG, valve repair, and thoracotomy patients
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team player and contribute to a positive unit culture
