Job Summary
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN position is based in a healthcare facility providing specialized peri-anesthesia care to a diverse patient population. This role involves delivering vigilant pre- and post-operative care for patients across the lifespan, supporting various surgical and medical specialties in a dynamic, 28-bed unit.
Job Details
- Position: PACU RN Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Location: unspecified
- Certifications: Active MD or Compact RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and CPI required
- Education/Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required; 2 years patient ratio and charge experience required
- Schedule: Rotating Day/Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Responsibilities include titration of vasopressors, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation
- Clinical skills required include End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, airway assessment, blood management, and invasive device care
- Flexibility to float within the specialty as needed and to work 1-2 on-call shifts every 4 weeks
- Vacation, holiday, and orientation details as per standard policy
- Additional operational details include a 28-bed unit with 24/7 peri-anesthesia care, serving a patient age range from neonates to geriatrics, with an emphasis on ICU experience
