General Information
This position is within a specialized Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU) that provides exceptional care for adult patients with burn injuries. The unit features a total of 6 beds, with patient ratios that vary based on acuity levels. The staffing model includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Externs, Paramedics, and a Charge Nurse, ensuring a robust support structure for patient care.
Unit Specifics
- Number of Beds: 6
- Patient Ratios: Varies on acuity; adult only
- Type of Equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, Hill-Rom beds, GE Cardiac monitoring equipment
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling Requirements: 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week scheduling period
- Floating Policy: Staff may float to similar units (ICU/PCU/CCU); agency staff will float first if needed
- Patient Care Philosophy: Uphold mission and values, emphasizing courtesy, respect, and patient-centered care
Required Qualifications
- Core Skills: ICU experience, burn experience preferred, BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certified
- Advanced Skills: NIH certification, CRRT training, proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and drip titration
- Procedures: Line insertion, chest tube insertion, post-operative care, debridement, and dressing changes
Certifications Required
- BLS
- ACLS
- TNCC
- NIH Certification
- ABLS Certification (preferred, but not required)
