Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide critical care nursing for a complex ICU patient population including trauma (head, chest, abdominal, orthopedic), stroke, burns (adult and pediatric up to 18–20% BSA without respiratory involvement), and general medical/surgical patients requiring intensive care
- Manage ventilated patients and perform medication titration including all common ICU drips
- Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, EVDs, and ICP monitoring devices
- Operate and troubleshoot common ICU equipment including CRRT; collaborate with Respiratory Therapy who manages all RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)
- Interpret EKG rhythms independently using central Phillips monitors and assess for need for intervention; no monitor technician on unit
- Float throughout the facility as needed (excluding ER and OB); capped at 1:4 ratio if floated to MedSurg
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Demonstrated comfort with ventilator management and medication titration
- Experience with arterial lines and central lines
- Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; negative drug screen required for all panels
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
- PALS certification preferred but not required
- Experience with CRRT preferred
- Experience with EVD and ICP monitoring preferred
