Labor and Delivery Nurse
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves working in a high-volume Labor and Delivery unit, caring for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to patients in labor and delivery, following AWHONN guidelines.
- Monitor fetal and maternal well-being using the Fetal Link System.
- Perform assessments and interventions for high-risk deliveries.
- Assist in the delivery process, including circulating and scrubbing during C-sections.
- Administer medications as prescribed, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including OB and Neonatologists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Float to antepartum and postpartum units as needed.
- Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
- Current certifications in ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS, and NRP.
- Experience with high-risk deliveries and fetal monitoring.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle diverse patient needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Unit Type: Labor and Delivery
- Number of L&D Beds: 12
- Number of Triage Beds: 10
- Number of Antepartum Beds: 12
- Average Births Per Month: 200
- Weekend Requirement: Every Other
- Holidays: One major and two minor
- Staffing: Charge Nurse available; Nurse Aides/OB Tech to assist with deliveries and support tasks.
Additional Information
- Facility is recognized as the 13th largest center for births in California.
- Required to wear sterile scrubs provided by the facility; no acrylic or overlay nails allowed during the assignment.
- Three shifts of floor-specific orientation provided.
- All care must be aligned with established protocols and evidence-based practices.
