Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Floor. The position provides nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical setting, with a typical patient ratio of 1:4. The role includes rotating weekend coverage, interdisciplinary collaboration, and floating between units as needed.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; at least 1 year of nursing experience; required charting system experience; proficiency in medical-surgical nursing, rapid response and code team utilization, peripheral line care and management, oxygen administration, isolation precautions and personal protective equipment, continuous bladder irrigation, port management, blood product administration, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line management, intravenous initiation and maintenance, heparin, insulin, patient-controlled analgesia, surgical drains, chest tubes, bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) management, wound care, and wound vacuum therapy.
- Schedule: Night shifts are 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The position supports adult and geriatric patients with an approximate daily census of 20. Interdisciplinary support includes intravenous therapy teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Orientation includes 12 hours.
