Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned Emergency Department patients
- Manage a diverse patient population including clinic-type patients, strokes, STEMIs, Level I traumas, post-surgical complications, pregnancy complications, pediatrics, and behavioral health cases
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect to appropriate resources
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of New Mexico or a compact state license
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with most recent experience in an Emergency Department setting at a Level 1, 2, or 3 Trauma center
- Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Current ACLS certification required (AHA only)
- Current PALS certification required (AHA only)
- Current TNCC certification required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience managing high-acuity cases including STEMIs, strokes, and Level I traumas
- Familiarity with emergency department-specific competency validation processes
