Key Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a 6-OR, 1-GI suite department handling adult, pediatric, geriatric, and obstetric cases
- Support a range of surgical specialties including Orthopedics (Total Joints, ORIF, Arthroscopy), OB/GYN (C-Section, LAVH, D&C, Diagnostic Lap), and General Surgery (Lap Appy, Lap Chole, Ex Lap, Endoscopy)
- Manage an average caseload of 6–10 cases per day, with volume potentially reaching up to 20 cases
- Fulfill on-call obligations: expected 1–2 weeknight call shifts per week (end of shift through 0700 next day) and 1 weekend per month (0700 Friday through 0700 Monday); holiday call required; 15-minute call response time required
- Utilize Meditech EMR for documentation and patient care coordination
- Occasionally assist other departments with non-patient-load tasks such as call lights and 1-on-1 support as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure applicable to the state of North Dakota
- BLS certification required at time of submission
- ACLS certification required at time of submission
- PALS certification required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience with demonstrated experience in Orthopedics, GYN, and General Surgery
- Previous travel nursing experience in an OR setting required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, are not eligible
- Candidates must be able to pass required respiratory fit testing; clinicians with facial hair must pass the primary or secondary fit test (3M Aura 1860 or 3M 1870+) — inability to pass may impact contract eligibility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Familiarity with C-arm and Mako robotic surgical systems
- Experience working in a high-volume OR environment
- Comfort with team/self-scheduling models and flexible shift structures
