Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Trauma/Ortho/Surgical unit serving adult patients including trauma, orthopedic, urology, colorectal, and post-operative populations
- Manage a patient ratio of 6:1, with the potential for up to 7:1 as needed
- Monitor patients using telemetry and cardiac monitors; administer and manage cardiac drips
- Document accurately and efficiently using EPIC EHR
- Complete a facility-required dysrhythmia and math of dosage test with the education department prior to beginning work on the unit
- Float to units with a comparable patient population when operationally necessary
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with background in medical/surgical, trauma, or a related acute care specialty
- Proficiency with EPIC EHR
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitors, and cardiac drips
- Ability to manage up to a 7:1 patient ratio
- Weekend availability required — expect to be scheduled for at least 2 of every 4 weekends; 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Rapid start required — candidates must be available to start within 2 weeks
- No holiday time off requests will be considered for this assignment
- Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible as a travel candidate
- All Pennsylvania state clearances must be completed and submitted prior to start, including: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Department of Human Services Fingerprinting, FBI Department of Aging Fingerprinting (completed within the last two years), and PA State Police (PATCH) Clearance for employment purposes
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for post-operative, trauma, orthopedic, or surgical patient populations
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Comfortable working across units with comparable patient populations when float needs arise
