Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Block scheduling is not guaranteed and may vary
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 64-bed Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit serving adult patients
- Manage common diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal/dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical/surgical conditions
- Operate specialty equipment including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
- Monitor and assess patients requiring isolation precautions and pulmonary support
- Float to other units as required
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (may be obtained prior to start date)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
- Local candidates (within 75 miles) are welcome to apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for patients with renal/dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, and pulmonary conditions
- Familiarity with isolation protocols and infection control practices
- Experience with nasogastric and enteral feeding tube management
