Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday); holiday shifts may be scheduled during the assignment period
Key Responsibilities
- Float across multiple critical care units including Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Cardiac Care Unit, and Oncology ICU based on facility needs
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients including trauma, surgical complications, neuro, cardiac, oncology, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal cases
- Monitor and manage patients requiring increased levels of care, including those undergoing chemo inductions and post-cardiac procedure monitoring
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Maintain flexible scheduling availability, including weekends and holidays as required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in Virginia (must be in hand at time of submittal) or proof of a valid compact license
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care experience, with specialty experience within the last year
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required — must be issued through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- NIH and stroke education required
- EPIC charting experience required
- One supervisory reference required at time of submittal
- SSN required at time of submittal
- Candidates may not simultaneously work travel and per diem contracts at Riverside Health facilities — one must be selected
- Prior permanent employees must have been separated for at least 6 months before beginning a travel assignment
- Locals are welcome and accepted at the same base rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a high-acuity float pool or multi-unit critical care environment
- Familiarity with neuro, oncology, and cardiac critical care patient populations
- Flexible scheduling availability with minimal time-off requests during the assignment period
