Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 12-Hour Shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | Alternating Weekends
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed Cardiac ICU with patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
- Perform titration of vesicant medications, management of pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Manage ventilated and tracheostomy patients; perform telemetry interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring including PA catheter setup and interpretation
- Support or assist with unit procedures including cardioversion, central line insertion, chest tube insertion and maintenance, bronchoscopy, EGD, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including vents, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, Impella, and hypothermia devices
- Document all patient care accurately using the Cerner electronic health record system; travelers are expected to float to all areas per unit policy
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in North Carolina or a compact state
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Demonstrated proficiency in titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Experience with mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, and telemetry interpretation
- Working knowledge of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup and interpretation
- Ability to adhere to unit dress code: all navy or navy and white scrubs (no pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CCRN certification preferred
- Experience with IABP, Impella, and/or CRRT highly valued
- Familiarity with transvenous pacing, TEE, and hypothermia protocols
- Prior experience with Cerner documentation system
