Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department with mixed/shared acuity levels at a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Perform interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, and continuous IV paralytics and sedation
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, including CVA patients, and maintain appropriate isolation precautions
- Perform phlebotomy and IV placement — mandatory competencies required for all RNs in this role
- Provide central line care/management and blood product administration
- Float to other units when census warrants
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — must be in hand at time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience required; first-time travelers are welcome
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience is a hard requirement
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and IV insertion
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a high-acuity, combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department setting
- Familiarity with procedural sedation administration and management of patients on continuous IV paralytics or vasopressors
- Ability to accommodate a block schedule (considered on a case-by-case basis)
