Travel RN Job Details

- Primary Shift: Nights
- Schedule: Typically 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next, with up to one on-call shift per week
- Scheduling Expectations: Flexibility to work days, weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed
- Unit: 20-bed medical-surgical inpatient unit serving adult and pediatric patients
- Staffing Ratios: Typically 4:1, with a maximum of 5:1 for non-COVID patients; typically 2:1, with a maximum of 3:1 for COVID patients
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Arizona
- At least three years of medical-surgical nursing experience
- At least one year of pediatric nursing experience
- Demonstrated comfort caring for both adult and pediatric patients
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- American Heart Association ACLS certification
- American Heart Association PALS certification
- Ability to work nights and remain flexible for days, weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call assignments
- Willingness to float to other departments when qualified, including patient-care or task-oriented assignments
Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult, geriatric, and pediatric medical-surgical patients.
- Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate responses to treatment.
- Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, efficient, and patient-centered inpatient care.
- Manage a patient assignment while maintaining unit safety, infection prevention, and documentation standards.
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns according to clinical protocols.
- Support inpatient operations during high-volume periods and assist with qualified assignments in other departments when needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, orientation activities, and required department education.
- Provide support for seasonal flu immunization clinics when assigned.
