Job Summary
Medical Surgical With Telemetry position for a 12-hour night-shift assignment supporting patients with abdominal and ear, nose, and throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical conditions. The role involves intermediate care responsibilities, telemetry monitoring support, and management of patients requiring specialized clinical interventions.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday; no call requirement.
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); one year of experience; experience with intravenous therapy, drains, ostomies, wound vacuum systems, nasogastric tubes, Foley catheters, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and intermediate care.
- Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The unit supports abdominal surgeries, ear, nose, and throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 on days and 1:6 on nights. Responsibilities may include titrating heparin and, infrequently, insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin infusions. Available respiratory equipment includes continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, and Vapotherm; occasional tracheostomy care may be required, with no ventilator assignments. Scrubs of any color are permitted. Orientation includes 12 hours of computer training and 12 hours of shadowing.
