Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 30-minute unpaid lunch | Schedules made 4 weeks in advance with self-scheduling (subject to manager balancing) | 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a combined Surgical/Neuro Telemetry unit (48 beds across two units) with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Manage a diverse patient population including respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, TIA/CVA, and general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
- Interpret and sign telemetry strips at least once per shift (remote monitoring supported by telemetry techs)
- Administer and manage set-rate drips (e.g., Diltiazem at a set rate); titration of drips is not required
- Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and nurse aides (1:10–15 ratio) to ensure quality patient care
- May be required to float to an alternate campus or PCU if qualified
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of Arizona
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips
- Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, as well as CVA and TIA patient populations
- Must be prepared for a condensed unit orientation of 1 shift on the unit
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Cerner EMR strongly recommended given the brief orientation period
- Familiarity with BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and breathing treatment equipment
- Prior experience in a Telemetry or Medical Surgical/Neuro setting
