Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intermediate-level nursing care to patients presenting with respiratory conditions, medical telemetry needs, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and acute-on-chronic medical conditions
- Maintain a 1:3 patient ratio on the IMC unit; when floating to med-surg, ratios are expected to be 1:4–5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
- Operate and monitor unit equipment including telemetry, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and insulin drips for DKA protocol
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
- Float to appropriate similar units at IMC level or lower as needed
- Complete facility-required mandatory onboarding education modules prior to or at the start of assignment
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of Maine
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- IMC/Intermediate Care experience required
- At least one prior travel assignment at med-surg level or higher required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel experience specifically in an IMC or step-down setting
- Familiarity with Epic EMR
- Experience managing patients on telemetry, BiPAP, high-flow O2, or insulin drips
