Our client in NY is actively seeking a Medical Oncology Physician for a 96-day assignment. This role involves providing clinical oncology services primarily during standard business hours, three days per week (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), complemented by 17 weeks of dedicated on-call coverage outside these hours. The Physician will manage a full scope of oncology cases, delivering comprehensive patient care, including inpatient coverage, managing clinical time, conducting follow-ups, and participating in tumor board discussions.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide clinical oncology services, ensuring punctuality for all scheduled clinics.
- Manage a clinical load including approximately five hours of inpatient coverage per week and 26 hours of bookable clinical time, with remaining duty dedicated to clinical follow-up and tumor board discussions.
- Handle an approximate case load of two patients per hour during bookable clinical time.
- Adhere to all established medication policies and procedures.
- Deliver discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all oncology clinical patients.
- Implement mechanisms for test result notification to patients in compliance with VHA Directive 1088.

- Setting: Primarily clinic-based with inpatient coverage and significant out-of-house call responsibilities.
- Call Schedule: On-call physician coverage required for 17 weeks per calendar year, covering all hours outside standard business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), totaling 128 hours per week during assigned on-call weeks.
- Patient Volume: Anticipate seeing 12-16 patients per day during clinical hours, with an approximate case load of two patients per hour during bookable clinical time.
