Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 33-room Emergency Department, including 25 cardiac-monitored rooms and a staffed triage area with 2 triage bays
- Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a high-volume department averaging 210 patients per shift
- Manage ER holds and board patients as needed, following EMTALA guidelines to stabilize and treat all patients regardless of insurance or ability to pay
- Perform thorough, accurate clinical documentation using Cerner EMR
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including up to 5 physicians, 3 midlevels, ER Techs, RT (available 24/7), and Pharmacy (available 24/7 with Omnicell)
- Participate in self-scheduling with an expected commitment of 2 weekends per 4-week period and 2 out of 3 holidays
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Cerner EMR experience is required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Strong, thorough clinical documentation skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Recent Cerner EMR experience (candidates with recent experience may be eligible to test out of Cerner training)
- Prior experience in a high-volume Emergency Department setting
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring (GE central monitor systems)
- Experience working in a stroke-certified or EMS base hospital environment
