Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. Job Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a designated group of patients, acting as the primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
- Educate patients and their families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.
- Administer medications safely and in compliance with established policies.
- Contribute to effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and supply management.
- Ensure compliance with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Participate in Nursing Shared Governance initiatives, supporting unit councils and peer review practices.
- Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education requirements.
- Integrate nursing research and current evidence into daily practice.
- Create a supportive learning environment for new employees and nursing students.
- Uphold all organizational values and perform other assigned duties.
Required Skills & Experience
- Registered Nursing experience of six (6) months to three (3) years.
- Management experience ranging from zero (0) to three (3) years.
- A minimum of five (5) years of direct nursing experience.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Judgment and critical thinking capabilities.
- Organizational skills and understanding of healthcare systems.
- Effective planning and time management abilities.
- Problem-solving proficiency.
- Commitment to quality and reliability in patient care.
- Knowledge of safety and risk management practices.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Prior clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting.
Education
- Required Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Certifications & Licensure
- Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
- Relevant skills certifications, such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC, as required by the assigned unit.
Schedule Notes
Position available for a Cardiac Telemetry RN in a Stepdown/PCU unit with specific telemetry skills required. Full-time schedule includes 12-hour night shifts at 36 hours per week, including every other weekend.
Candidates must have experience in a cardiac telemetry department, along with specific knowledge of cardiac procedures and patient management.
