Job Details:
• Work in 4 operating rooms with 23 pre/post recovery rooms
• Staff work elective surgeries from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM with evenings, weekends, and holidays reserved for emergent cases
• Patient ratios: Pre/post 1:3, OR 1:1
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required (no first-year travelers accepted)
• Recent ophthalmology experience is mandatory
• Required certifications: BLS, Wisconsin nursing license
• Experience required with ophthalmology (cataracts, retinas), orthopedic cases (carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, cyst removals, ORIF), and breast/plastic procedures (breast reductions, implants, cancer cases, biopsies to mastectomies)
• On-call responsibilities required: weekday call 3:00 PM to midnight (one week every 5 weeks), weekend call 6:00 AM to midnight Saturday/Sunday (one weekend every 5th weekend)
• Call response time is 30 minutes with no sleep room available
• Technology includes EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
• Must bring OR shoes that have never been outside the hospital
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Fatigue policy limits work to maximum 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• At least one orientation shift provided to learn workflow
• No floating required
Facility:
This healthcare facility is a Level III Trauma Center with 933 beds, featuring Magnet designation and comprehensive stroke center capabilities. The surgery center specializes in ophthalmology procedures including retina and cataract surgeries, breast oncology cases, and distal extremity hand procedures. The facility maintains a Level III NICU and provides comprehensive surgical services with 24/7 support including hospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, and on-call physician availability.
