Job Summary: Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D) Seattle, WA
A Labor and Delivery Nurse is needed to support care in a Labor and Delivery/Recover and Postpartum (L&D/PP/MB) unit, including triage, newborn transitions, postpartum couplets, and assisting with circulating for cesarean sections. The role requires adherence to evidence-based maternal and newborn care practices and the ability to provide dependable coverage during night shifts and every-other-weekend scheduling. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shift schedule of 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week; 3 shifts per week; every other weekend.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; minimum of 2 years of experience; ability to triage and transition normal newborns; for nursery, at least Level 2 nursery experience; ability to titrate drips according to physician order (including Mag and Pitocin); experience interpreting fetal heart monitoring tracings; and willingness to float only within scope to the Special Care Nursery if experienced in that specialty and agreed upon prior to start of contract.
- Preferred Qualifications: Scrubbing experience (preferred, but not required).
- Additional Information:
- Unit coverage requirements include floating responsibilities within the birth center scope, specifically: triage, Labor and Delivery nursing, newborn/baby nurse duties for normal newborn deliveries and transitions, postpartum nursing for both moms and babies, and circulating in the operating room.
- Every attempt is made to work with set schedules; weekend requirement includes Friday/Saturday for overnights and Saturday/Sunday for days, with holiday coverage rotated with permanent staff.
- Orientation includes 2 days in the unit with a preceptor.
- Charting is completed in EPIC.
