Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) Wausau, Wisconsin
A full-time Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse position is available in Wausau, Wisconsin, supporting a fast-paced Trauma Level II environment. The role includes delivering emergency care, managing a high-acuity patient mix, and completing clinical documentation using EPIC. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating 12-hour variable shifts; the majority of shifts fall between 05001700, 09002100, 10002200, and 11002300, with the ability to flex to 14000200 and 17000500 occasionally. PM shifts may start at 11am or 2pm. Minimum hours per week: 36.
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday. On-call/call back: 12 hours in a 6-week period; response time 30 minutes; call back minimum 2 hours.
- Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Education: Associate Degree or Certificate. Minimum experience: 5 years total, with at least 1 year of travel experience. Trauma Level II experience required. Charting experience: EPIC required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Education: Bachelors Degree.
- Responsibilities: Provide patient care in a Trauma Level II Emergency Department with a face-paced workflow and patient types including stroke, cardiac, neuro, pediatrics, geriatrics, and respiratory needs. Perform emergency nursing tasks including drawing labs (labs are performed in-house) and administering nebulizer treatments (with respiratory therapy on site). Support timely independent task completion in a high-acuity setting.
- Additional Information: Contract length is 13 weeks. Float may include other locations: Merrill, Antigo, Medford, and Stanley. During flu season, any traveler who declines flu and COVID vaccination is required to wear a mask at all times; compliance is mandatory. Unit context includes EPIC charting and Pyxis medication dispenser use. X-ray staff are on site in the ED.
