Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) RN Wausau, Wisconsin
A Neuro Critical Care unit Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to provide neuro-focused assessments and deliver basic bedside ICU procedures, including neuro-specific interventions. The role includes familiarity with external ventricular drains (EVDs) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, along with the ability to manage tasks independently in a fast-paced environment. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour Nights shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend and every other holiday.
- Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Required Qualifications: Active Wisconsin RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)); National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Associate Degree or Certificate; EPIC charting experience; Minimum 2 years of clinical experience with at least 1 travel assignment preferred; strong neuro assessment skills; Med/Surg Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and/or Neuro ICU background; familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Neuro Interventionalist is a plus.
- Additional Information: The Neuro Critical Care unit serves a neuro population including stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), head injury, and neurosurgery patients. Main procedures include neuro assessments and basic bedside ICU procedures such as line placement and intubation, along with bolt and drain bedside placements with neurosurgery and, in future state, care for neuro interventional patients. On-call/call-back requirements are not required. Candidates should be prepared to manage potential low census in hour-increment adjustments; this is not considered on-call.
