Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients with complex problems
- Perform patient and family education by assessing readiness to learn, developmental level, and utilizing appropriate patient education materials
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care, revise plans of care, and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care
- Perform bedside point-of-care testing and apply healthcare organization standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care
- Assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families, consulting appropriate resources for complex care issues in a timely manner
- Participate in unit goal development, performance improvement activities, and cost-effective care initiatives while promoting a safe, clean, and secure environment
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA or ARC) required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive care unit (PCU/IMC/Stepdown) experience
- Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of nursing
Preferred Experience / Skills
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing
- Experience working within interdisciplinary care teams in a hospital setting
- Familiarity with public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment
