Key Responsibilities
- Float between Med/Oncology, surgical, and medical units within a large 128-bed Med/Surg department, adapting to varying patient populations and unit needs
- Provide total patient care in a setting without PCAs, managing a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Care for patients with surgical diagnoses including colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, and orthopedic procedures, as well as medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD, and kidney and GI conditions
- Perform occasional cardiac strip reading as needed; no titration of drips required
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy for equipment management; RNs are not required to independently manage vents, CPAP, BiPAP, or high-flow devices beyond basic troubleshooting
- Work every other weekend as part of the standard scheduling rotation; no on-call or standby requirement
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing (or compact eligibility for Arkansas)
- Current BLS certification required
- Current, relevant medical/surgical nursing experience
- Large hospital experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a float pool or across multiple units
- Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring environments
- Exposure to or experience with Epic EMR (facility transitioning to Epic in late 2026)
