Job Overview for Toll Collector
The Lee Group is looking for a Toll Collector to work with one of our valued clients in Chesapeake, VA, near the North Carolina state line. This 3rd shift position is ideal for someone who is dependable, comfortable working overnight hours, and confident handling money while providing courteous service to motorists. You must be available for weekends!
As a Toll Collector, you will collect toll payments, make change, provide information and directions, accurately account for money and tickets, and help keep the work area clean and organized. Attention to detail and accuracy are important in this role.
Job Responsibilities of Toll Collector
- Collect toll payments and tickets from motorists and make change as required.
- Stamp receipts and accurately record toll transactions.
- Sell toll ticket books and properly account for money received.
- Provide information and directions to motorists.
- Count and roll collected money and count tickets.
- Prepare required daily reports.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, taking out trash, and preparing the area for the next shift.
- Order supplies as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications of Toll Collector
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one month of related full-time equivalent experience.
- Ability to accurately perform basic addition and subtraction, including making change.
- Strong attention to detail when handling money, tickets, and transaction records.
- Ability to read and follow routine instructions, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to complete routine forms and reports accurately.
- Customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with motorists.
- Dependability and ability to work the scheduled overnight shift.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements of Toll Collector
- Must be comfortable working an overnight schedule.
- Position involves direct interaction with motorists and routine cash handling.
- Work includes clerical and manual tasks that require consistent attention to accuracy.
- Must be able to perform routine cleaning and organization of the assigned work area.
- Additional hours may occasionally be required based on operational or emergency needs.
