Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Shifts: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM or 6:30 AM–7:00 PM (Night rotation) | Every other weekend required | Every third holiday required | No call or standby requirement
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 35-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult and geriatric populations with diagnoses including cardiac conditions, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5, delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced environment
- Titrate drips including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications as required
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs (ratio 1:10 or 2:20), and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units as needed
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic clinical setting
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid for practice
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required for contract continuation
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity are not eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or IMC setting
- Experience titrating cardiac and neurological drips
- Familiarity with continuous EEG monitoring
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
